Data & privacy
This notice covers the Bill Tracker. The controller is Free Movement Publishing Ltd (ICO registration ZB265912). Contact: editor@freemovement.org.uk.
What this tool is
The Bill Tracker is a public reader for a UK immigration or asylum Bill: it shows each clause alongside the effect it has on existing legislation, plus the government's own Explanatory Notes. It is an unofficial reading aid, not legal advice.
Cookies
You can use this tool without an account, and without giving your name or email. It does not ask you to sign in, so it sets no session or device cookie. The only cookie it can set is the analytics opt-out described below, and only if you use it: that records your choice for a year, across all the Free Movement tools. We use no advertising or third-party tracking cookies here. Where this site sits behind Cloudflare, Cloudflare may set its own strictly-necessary security cookies at the edge.
Analytics
This tool uses Google Analytics 4, the same service as the main Free Movement website, to understand how it is used: which pages are visited and how use of this tool relates to visits to the website. We do not send Google your name, email address or any account identity, and we never send the text of a question or search: any query string in the page address is stripped out before it is sent, and no page title carries a question or search. Google receives only that a page was viewed and which Free Movement tool it belonged to, never their content.
Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off for this data, and it is not linked to any advertising product. Google holds it for 14 months and then deletes it. Google acts as our processor for this data under its data-processing terms; the transfer basis is the Standard Contractual Clauses as adapted by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, supported by a transfer risk assessment, under Google's data-processing agreement.
Turning it off. You can stop analytics in your browser at any time with the control below; the choice is remembered for a year across all the Free Movement tools. We also honour the Global Privacy Control signal if your browser sends it.
Your rights
You have the usual UK GDPR rights (access, erasure, objection, complaint to the ICO). Contact editor@freemovement.org.uk.
